By using Family Tree Pro you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Family Tree Pro provides tools to create, manage, and share family tree data including member profiles, photos, timelines, DNA heritage data, and printable family books. The service is provided free of charge.

3. User Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at legal@familytreepro.online.

4. Your Data & Privacy

Your family tree data is private by default and visible only to you. By using our community features, you agree that community posts are visible to other registered members. We do not sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

5. User Content

You retain all ownership rights to family photos and content you upload. By uploading content, you grant Family Tree Pro a limited license to store and display it within your account. You warrant that you have the right to upload all photos and content.

6. Prohibited Uses

You must not: upload content you do not own; post harmful, abusive, or illegal content; attempt to access other users' private data; use the service to spam or harass other members; create multiple accounts to circumvent bans.

7. Advertising

Family Tree Pro is free to use and is supported by advertising from Taboola and other networks. By using the service, you consent to the display of relevant advertisements. Manage your advertising preferences via our Cookie Preferences tool.

8. Intellectual Property

The Family Tree Pro platform, design, and original content are the intellectual property of Family Tree Pro. You may not reproduce or redistribute our platform without written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Always maintain your own backup copies of important family data.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Family Tree Pro shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service or any loss of family data.

11. Data Loss Warning

Important: While we take every precaution to protect your data, we strongly recommend keeping local backups of all important family records, photos, and documents. Use our PDF export feature regularly to maintain local copies.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States.

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

At Family Tree Pro, your family's privacy is our highest priority. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect: name, email address, username, profile photo, family tree data (member names, dates, places, biographies, photos), DNA heritage data you choose to enter, community posts, and automatically: IP address, browser type, pages visited, device info, and cookie data.

2. How We Use Your Information

To operate and improve the Family Tree Pro service; store and display your family tree data; send account notifications (with consent); display community posts to other members; analyse usage via Google Analytics; display relevant ads via Taboola and partner networks; comply with legal obligations.

3. Data Privacy for Family Tree Data

Your family tree data is private by default. We do not share individual family member data with third parties. DNA heritage percentages you enter are stored securely and used only to display your heritage chart within your account.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use strictly necessary, analytics (Google Analytics), advertising (Taboola and partners), and functional cookies. Manage preferences via our Cookie Preferences tool in the footer. Google Analytics opt-out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

5. Advertising

We display ads through Taboola and other networks to fund our free service. These partners use cookies to serve relevant ads. Opt out at aboutads.info/choices or Google Ad Settings. You can also manage preferences via our Cookie tool.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with: cloud infrastructure providers (Firebase/Google) who store your data; advertising partners (anonymised data only); analytics providers; law enforcement when required by law.

Family Tree Pro is intended for adults. Children under 13 may appear as family members within an adult's tree but should not create their own accounts. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You may: access, correct, or delete your personal data; export your family tree data at any time via PDF export; withdraw consent for non-essential cookies; request account deletion by emailing privacy@familytreepro.online. EU/EEA users have full GDPR rights. California residents have CCPA rights.

9. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security including Firebase Authentication, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), and Firestore Security Rules to protect your family data.

10. Data Retention

Your data is retained while your account is active. Upon deletion request, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Is Family Tree Pro really free? ▼
Yes — completely free forever. The family tree builder, photo profiles, timeline, DNA heritage map, and PDF family book export are all included at no cost. The service is funded by non-intrusive advertising.
Is my family data private? ▼
Yes. Your family tree data is completely private by default — only you can see it. Community posts are visible to other registered members, but your tree itself is never shared publicly. We never sell your data.
How do I add DNA results? ▼
In the DNA Heritage section, you can manually enter ethnicity percentages from any provider (AncestryDNA, 23andMe, MyHeritage, etc.). We display them as a beautiful chart and include them in your family book PDF.
How many family members can I add? ▼
There is no limit! Add as many generations and family members as you can find. We've seen trees with hundreds of members spanning 10+ generations.
Can I delete my account and data? ▼
Yes. Email legal@familytreepro.online with your registered email address and we will permanently delete your account and all data within 30 days, in full compliance with GDPR and CCPA.
Can I collaborate with family members? ▼
Currently each tree is private to the account holder. Collaboration features are on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can share your PDF family book with relatives at any time.
